this is a very
interesting website with much information, and no matter whether from the
North or South...their were men who made the ultimate sacrifice...and no
matter where we all live today - it is very unprofound that we honor many a
civil war soldier by turning hallowed grounds into golf
courses, condo's,shopping centers and other materialistic ungodly selfish
means of worldly pleasures...and forget who shed their blood for thee!

Born and raised in
Fairfax County. I grew up with the Civil War around me. My father was born
in 1899 and my grandfather in 1850. I was taken to many of Jackson's camps
and Mosby's hiding places. My great uncle was at Ox Hill.

I am of Southern
orginin & yet there so many 'valiant" men, soldiers on both sides.
One of my familys' ancestors wrote a little book, "Uncle Tom's
Cabin." I don't believe that "owning" a person is morally
correct. Like most Americans I probably have ancestors that fought in
Confederate & Union armies. The Civil War brought untold tradegy, loss
& suffering not only to the ones who died but to millions of those who
gave "their last full measure" in order that we become a nation
unified.

Thank you to the
soldiers - North and South who helped establish what it means to be an
American.

In response to the
entry below. I couldn't agree more. This preservation model chronicles what
has happened to our heritage over the last 20 or so years. The location
where the graves were found was being bulldozed for a McDonalds parking lot. This
web site was also designed to show how technology could be used as a
preservation tool in today's virtually networked world.. I t was the best
that could be done under the circumstances.
Each generation
must protect what defines our national character, our humanity... to pass
the flag.... which I now pass on to you.

Although it is
great that you have dug up their graves to find out about our history, but
wouldn't it be more respectful to leave them be? Most people wouldn't
appreciate getting their graves dug up.

It is not so much
what we say as what we do that will tell our children of values that are
worth giving a supreme sacrifice so they can tell their children. Thank you
for giving me the opportunity to tell my son what is important.
