I was grieved to hear of the
distruction of the civil war battlefields. It is a part of our hertiage that
can never be replaced. I don't understand why people stood by and watched it
be destroyed. I think they have done to little to late. It can never be
brought back. It's not like something that can be restored back to it's
natural state. I do hope nothing else is destroyed in that area of dear old
Virginia. If we don't have any heritage left, how can we tell our children
and grandchildren of what our ancestors fought and gave their lives for. A
parent can make a child understand better if they are walking across a
battlefield where it all happened. I know that because I have been there and
done that. Sincerely, Lula Ellis...1695 Harvill Rd. Wauchula, Fla. 33873

Thank you for your work in
the construction of this web site and the telling of the marvelous story of
the battle of Ox Hill. Informative and well researched, this is a wonderful
tribute to the soldiers who fought and sacrificed so much in this battle.
It's sad that this battle site
like so many other historical landmarks are being lost to development.
Fortunately your project and others like it are raising the consciousness of
people and hopefully we can preserve future sites from this type of
destruction.
Just recently another group of
historical preservationist successfully saved one of the very first civil war
battle fields (Rich Mountain in Beverly West (Western) Virginia). It seems
incredible that this extraordinary historical site was almost lost to
development and strip mining. It is only through the dedicated efforts of
groups like yours, that these remarkable historical treasures will be
preserved.
Again my sincere thanks for
your wonderful site.

I found your site
interesting, thorough, and I think it is well done. I've studied the war
since 1960, I'm a reenactor, and I've written a regimental history of a
Union cavalry regiment. My praise to you comes from this historical
perspective.

WOW, what a great and
informative site. Kudos to all involved! What a tragedy to have lost another
important piece of our history to the careless greed of developers.

This is a truly fascinating
website. I find the information to be thorough and well written. I am so
glad that there are people who feel strongly enough about a period in our
history, to research and write such a well done essay.
