The Bailey Brothers
In Memory of David Bailey
02/26/02

When Major General Longstreet finally arrived at Ox Hill he immediately deployed Anderson's Brigade to support Stonewall Jackson. Although the brigade was never brought forward, it was briefly exposed to some of the Union artillery. The rest of Longstreet's Corps arrived shortly afterwards and made camp for the night. On September 2nd the Corps marched, via Dranesville, Leesburg, and across the Potomac at White's Ford, to Frederick City, Md., arriving there on the 7th.
My son is related  (through marriage) to the Bailey brothers of  The 6th Virginia Infantry, Mahone's Brigade, Anderson's Division.

On May 24, 1861 five of the six sons of Josiah Bailey... Thomas E., James H., John A., William E. and Joseph A. were mustered into Company K, of the 6th Virginia Infantry. Four of the five brothers survived the war (two had also been wounded) and returned to Chesterfield County, Va. to continue their lives as farmers.
