Jed Hotchkiss
Topographical Engineer

Pictured below is a Confederate sketch drawn 4 months after the battle by Stonewall Jackson's Topographical Engineer... Jed Hotchkiss. This gifted mapmaker from Augusta County, Va. helped Jackson navigate the back roads and rolling hills of Virginia's countryside. Armed with such detailed information, Jackson was able to outmaneuver much larger Union forces.
