This Danish silver coin was found next to a colonial belt buckle near the river town of Dumfries, Virginia.  This example along with the Spanish, English, and French coins in this exhibit, clearly demonstrate how foreign coins were the standard currency in use during colonial times. Both the coin and belt buckle were salvaged by local historian Kevin Ambrose as the area was being developed.
