(Condition of Henry Brown, Pvt. Artillery)

Mr. B. F. Brown

Sir:

According to contract, I improve these few moments to inform you of your son, Henry.  I am very sorry to say that he is no better, but continues to grow worse.  I fear he will not survive until morning.  Should it be so, I will inform you the first mail.  There appears to be no change in him, only he is growing weaker.  The same man who had charge of him when you was here waits on him yet and is very kind and attentive to him.

There has been a Medical Council held over him every day since you left but medicine appears to have lost its affect.  I hope that he may be recovered but it is very doubtful.

Very respectfully, your obedient servant,

William E, Jones

Ward Master of No. 5

Please inform me whether this was received or not.
