This pristine specimen is from the La Toca area of the Dominican Republic. Encased in a beautiful pendant shaped nugget of clear golden amber, this fossil is in a remarkable state of preservation. 

The beetle also has it's wing cases partially opened with the tips of the wings extended in a futile attempt to escape.  The nugget view shows how the resin was disturbed (behind the beetle's wing cases) during it's attempt to escape.
